In-Person/Phone Call Script

Hey!  This is Simon calling from the [NEIGHBORHOOD] community website, I’m just reaching out today to ask about doing an interview with [BUSINESS] and featuring it on our website for free!  Would you be the person I would talk to about this?

(yes)

Awesome!  So to give you a little more detail, we’re looking to do an (in person or zoom) interview with you about you and your business, to get to know [BUSINESS] better, and feature this interview on our [NEIGHBORHOOD] community website for free, so the community can learn more about [BUSINESS] as well!  Does this sound like something you’d be interested in?

(yes)

Great! I’m glad you’re on board, now as far as timing is concerned, the interview process from start to finish will typically take about 30 minutes, with about 15 minutes for the question and answer portion.  We were looking to do these interviews between Wednesday and Friday, between 9 am and 2 pm, what time would work best for you?

(time)

Ok great!  What I can do is send you an email with all of this information in one place. And I’ll include a link to the website so you can check it out before the interview!  What would be the best email to send this to?

(email)

Ok great!  And just in case we need to get ahold of you before the interview, would this be the best number to reach you?

(yes)

Ok, awesome!  So, I am going to send that email out to you now. And while I have you on the phone here, do you have any questions for me about the interview process?

(no)

Ok great!  If you come up with any questions after our call feel free to send a reply back to the email I send you and I’ll be happy to get back to you as soon as I can, it has been great talking with you today and I look forward to interviewing you!

Subject Line:

Featuring [BUSINESS NAME] on [AREA NAME]’s New Local Website

Email Body:

Hey, my name is [NAME] and I reached out to your team earlier on [SOCIAL PLATFORM/PHONE] about a featured interview with [BUSINESS NAME].

[TEAM MEMBER NAME] let me know to reach out to you over email with the details.

So what’s involved is:

  • We would love to feature [BUSINESS NAME] on the [AREA NAME] site.
  • Our goal is to showcase your story, what you provide to your customers, and why people should visit your business! Essentially, we want to make you look good.
  • We expect the interview process to take around 25-30 minutes, however, the actual Q and A would take between 5-15 minutes.
  • You’ll be able to review the questions that will be asked in the interview ahead of time and if there are questions you want to change or remove, just let us know.
  • There is absolutely NO cost to this whatsoever. Not now and not in the future, as I’ve sponsored the site for our area. I get this question all the time
  • I’m doing this to build more relationships, grow my referral network and, of course, create hyperlocal content (which helps both of us!)

Typically I do the interviews on [DATES/TIMES]. Would this be something that you’d be interested in for your business?

Excited to get to know you and your business. I’ll be sure to follow up if I’ve not heard back from you by [DATE]. Talk to you soon!
